I don’t think so. But if you do, feel free to ridicule me. However, ridicule from a Christian, on matters of belief, won’t bother me a bit.
Whether you know it or not, you have beliefs, perceptions and opinions like the rest of us, not just solid facts in your head.
I think it’s arrogant to look to an ancient book for guidance on modern life.
Actually, that sounds more like humility and a willingness to comply or submit to a belief in things outside yourself. This is not just religion, but of philosophy and many other ethical constructs as well, or for anyone who complies with norms and values of their society.
I also very strongly associate moralizing about movies with conservative Christian values.
Actually, it’s more like an obsession of yours. As I mentioned, you and I can be discussing something completely different and you constantly harp on this point and seem to portray it as my only card—you respond to nearly everything I write here from that standpoint.
I haven’t "bemoaned" a damn thing.
I quite disagree. This whole thread between me and you is you taking issue with my dislike and concern about what I’ve heard about this scene in the movie. You defend their right to artistic expression, yet seem to take issue with my freedom of expression. It’s not like I have any power whatsoever to do anything to the director or ban the movie or am even advocating any sort of restriction on it whatsoever. I am simply saying I find what I’ve heard about it repugnant, unnecessary and unwise.
It’s hard to see how anyone should consider your criticisms as even relevant.
And yet, you keep coming back at me on this like I am not entitled to an opinion.
And my point was that the basis you offered in place of religious concerns wasn’t very believable. There are many greater threats to your daughter’s well being than this.
And you don’t think I’m addressing them as well? I think you also under-rate the trauma and likelihood of child abuse and abductions.
However, deciding that filmmakers cannot shoot a scene like this,
I never said anything about this, I simply questioned if this was wise, or potentially harmful, yet you make me out to be Tipper Gore.
