Wonderful. Maybe this situation will make Iran more likely to deal. They’ve got sanctions agaisnst them now, maybe some more will make an impression if their economic outlook is bleak.

I was thinking the same thing … but then the cynical side of me kicked in. I doubt it will change much, if not even make things worse! More than likely, they’ll simply strike an ‘under-the-table’ deal with Russia or China and simply stop exporting the oil to us. They could even throw on a "screw America" tax which the Russians and Chinese might actually find appealing.
No. It implies Iran needs nuclear power generation. It will allow them to actually use the electrical power to manage day-to-day business in a highly populated country, stop polluting the cities (ever smelled teheran?) and invest – slowly – in oil exploitation infrastructure. In ten-twenty years time they will get a lot more ehh euro for their oil than now.
