Computer Science is an oxymoron, like: military intelligence, aboriginal culture, and New Zealand literature. ;-)

Computers are tools based on the products of scientific R&D. It is fair to call the people who make and use them in innovative ways engineers because engineers are about applied science.

Software developers are design software engineers. Computer programmers was a more accurate term.

It is so much sexier to call oneself an engineer or scientist. Remember how hard the engineers had to work at college?
