I agree. Essentially, they’re taking advantage of the fact that most people aren’t skilled negotiators, while most businesses are. So, in salary negotiations, the business already has the upper hand — unless people share information.

Yes, the secrecy is really an anti competitive practice, much like retail price maintenance, which should be stopped by the competition regulator.
