Some friends who’ve lived here (for decades) informed us that one reason for the huge bills is that BG&E recently hiked their energy rates by 70%. Maybe I was enjoying locked rates through a corporate managed account in the apartment before. Through some more diligent monitoring of power usage, our follow-on bill was about 20% lower … but that’s still outrageous.
