RE: A related anecdote

From what I know of these things, religious, corporate, non-profit and government agencies work together to help. I just wanted to take a little jab at scottb; this is something good that religious organizations can do, and I wanted him to admit it. :D

And, of course, forcing those in situations like this to listen to proselytizing in order to get food/help would be horrible. Do you know of organizations that are doing that in Haiti?

I don’t know of any in Haiti, but there is a church across the street from my old high school, and once a month they would give out food, at the price of listening to proselytizing. The food wasn’t that bad, and it didn’t cost me any money, but you did have to listen to the preacher ramble.
