I didn’t say it was global warming. I said it could have been caused by it.
Moreover, I didn’t even begin to suggest that the storm wouldn’t have happened in the absence of AGW, I said that AGW contributes to increasing the intensity of the storm.
It’s virtually impossible to point to any particular weather event and say, “global warming caused this”. The signal-to-noise ratio is just far too high.
On the other hand, annual precipitation in the US since 1970 is about 5% higher than in the 70 years previous. Snowfall is up about 10% over the last century. Extreme snowfall events (more than 2" in 24h) have increased by 20%.
Wishing it ain’t so doesn’t make it so.

And the stock maket has had it’s rises and falls as well…..I think global warming may have had a hand in that too….
