If you don’t like that link, simple GOOGLE AGW “45 Trillion” and there will be plenty of links to choose from..
I did just as you asked and then I read some summaries of the report. That number is even scarier than you think. The IEA isn’t saying that we only have to spend that if we want to reduce emissions, they are saying that we have to do that no matter what because we are running out of the current energy producing media (read oil) and that our current path is unsustainable unless we invest in alternative fuels. Not because of global warming, but because of resource scarcity.
Which leads me to believe that is not an argument against global warming. Warming or cooling, we are still running out of oil, and the move from oil → anthing else is going to be expensive since our world energy infrastructure is based on oil. (On a side note, if anyone is out “shooting for some food” and accidentally finds some “bubbling crude”, please report that to the IEA immediately, to stave off peak oil for a little longer).
If I am wrong, there is nothing we can do about it anyways. Humankind does not have the technology to change the planet’s climate at will. Humankind might as well stop the planet from rotating.
I disagree with this statement. We can stop making it worse. And if you are wrong, we are changing the planet’s climate and the solution is to try to stop changing it. We don’t need a weather/climate machine to do that.
