Why is buying a skull earring for your World of Warcraft character online any different than buying something on EBay? I assume EBay is taxed; why wouldn’t IGE be taxed the same way?

RE: Ebay by yaffff :: NR0

Is EBay taxed? I assume that the seller’s state would like the seller to file any sales as earned income, but I suspect that taxes aren’t collected centrally at the site. Maybe that’s different for oline merchants that use Ebay as a store front. Ebay has an interesting political statment on taxation, too.

I think its pretty scary that people pay real money for virtual objects. But then I think its pretty scary that people pay $10 to see what passes as a movie these days, too. The economy of entertainment astounds me.
