RE: It has been done in America

you blindly accuse this site of trying to kill the measure when the same act that you’re accusing them of is almost certainly being done by the other side.

That is a tangled thought, but I will try to sort it out.

Yes, I accused those who are making massive profits from health care of trying to protect their income. Duh?

The other “side” is ordinary folk trying to protect their health and see their health contribution go into medical treatment.

Yes, both seem perfectly plausible to me.

To the point of ignoring facts?

No the point was to ignore the bleating of the HMO parasites when their undeserved income is lost.

Sorry for the tangled thought, but you completely missed the point. You originally stated that those that supported the current system were guilty of trying to kill anything that threatens them. My point was that the “other side”, or those that oppose the current system, can be guilty of the same thing. That is, they will try to kill anything that threatens their cause to change the current system. Imagine this – Irrefutable, hard evidence surfaces that shows that the current system was the best, and that changing said system would be disastrous. Do you think health reform would die? Probably, and absolutely, not. There would still be those that would ignore said evidence and would still push the cause. The opposite is also true. Long story short – both sides are currently guilty of ignoring credible arguments of the other simply for the purpose of posturing.

No the point was to ignore the bleating of the HMO parasites when their undeserved income is lost.

If you believe that there will be NO profit earned, whatsoever, by anyone after a total overhaul of the health care system, you are terribly naive. If you do understand this, then I ask what YOUR true motivation would be for reform? You seem pretty set against insurance companies profiting. Why would it be acceptable for someone else to profit? Find the agencies that are set to profit, then find their political connections, and there you’ll find the true motivation for this reform. This is true for both sides of the issue.

Please understand that I am not for the status quo. I believe that the overall system is broken, but I believe that the only solution is a private one, not public. My main reason….there is no possible way that the government can handle this large of an industry better than the private sector. A government overhaul with a public option might seem rosy at first, but it is destined to fail. Case and point, no one has yet said how EXACTLY and SPECIFICALLY it will be paid for. No one knows. My solution would be tighter controls with respect to illegal immigrants and tort reform to limit frivolous lawsuits. Then let’s see what happens. If it needs more, then we can look at it then. Why does it have to be one gigantic and grandiose overhaul from top to bottom?
