Uh, no. That’s not using the same logic.
Academic scholarships are offered to those who show potential to excel academically, but can’t otherwise participate. That’s clearly in support of the academic mission.
Athletic scholarships are offered to those who show potential to excel athletically — but athletic excellence has nothing to do with the academic mission.

that is an overly broad generalization…u are still ignoring that many students turn to athletics as a means to an education at a good university…but u seem to suggest that we should evaluate everybody by simple test scores and grades…that isn’t elitist at all…
