By that same logic, any scholarship does not help the university because anybody that got that scholarship could be replaced…so let’s just forgo scholarships altogether…poor people shouldn’t go to school anyway…they provide no service for the university afterall…

Academic scholarships are offered to those who show potential to excel academically, but can’t otherwise participate. That’s clearly in support of the academic mission.

Athletic scholarships are offered to those who show potential to excel athletically — but athletic excellence has nothing to do with the academic mission.
