Yes, I guess this question boils down to whether the military should feel confident in the ability of gay junior officers to give responsible advice to young servicemen and women.

Whether you agree depends on your state of enlightenment regarding homosexuality, but at issue here is what is the best thing for our armed services to do in the hope of achieving the best outcome in a statistical sense.

Too bad there isn’t much data on how well gay v. straight people give advice to young people. If you find some, please enlighten me.

However, if we’re relying on statistics, I guess black people are out of the military because they commit a lot of crime, you know, statistically.
