RE: Who's there?
You do not believe in responsible education, you believe in manipulation.
I lived in Northern California most of my life and almost everybody has a gun. It’s far from an awful place to live. Except we get screwed with over bearing laws from cities full of people who think like you or aren’t educated on matters.
Here’s something for you to chew on.
Guns do not need to be locked up a freaking safe all the time.
If you are responsible and you teach responsibility to your children the gun is no more dangerous than a kitchen knife. Probably less dangerous than a kitchen knife.
And martial arts can also be hobby, what’s your point? A hobby is not necessarily all fun and games, though generally something enjoyed.
So what you are saying is individual freedom is frivolous and unnecessary?
Regardless of how “nice” you might “think” a world without guns would be, there’s no way in hell I’d ever let someone like you impose a false sense of Utopian fascism over individual freedoms.
We live in a civil society for a reason.

Yes they do by current safety standards. One of the main reasons for that is to prevent your guns from being stolen or from being used against you in a break-in. Here is your California code
Here is what the American Hunters and Shooters Association advises
NB “the American Hunters and Shooters Association urges all gun owners to store firearms unloaded and securely locked up separate from the ammunition whenever they are not in use.”
You can preach gun responsibility to your kid all you like but he may still blow his brains out in a fit of hormone fueled depression when his girlfriend leaves him – using your unlocked gun. And your wife may blow you away with it when she finds you in bed with that hot woman living next door. These are not extreme examples because they happen frequently in every state. Even police are required to lock up their guns at home. If they do not have a proper safe they are required to use their hand cuffs to render their service pistol unusable.
And martial arts can also be hobby, what’s your point? A hobby is not necessarily all fun and games, though generally something enjoyed.
A hobby is something you do for the love of it.

It is a well worn facet of governance in a free society that the individual freedoms of one person can easily constrain the individual freedoms of another person. When that happens we expect the law to impose limits that give both persons the best quality of life.
I think you are mixing your metaphors a bit there. The German, Italian and Spanish Fascists were right wing criminal gangs of gun enthusiasts who were not seeking any kind of Utopian society. More like your north CA mob really.
Joe, you are not convincing me that you are actually the thick red neck you are pretending to be here. You may be heading that way, but so far you are still capable of having a nerdworthy dialogue without descending to personal abuse. I have learned a few things from you that I will find useful later. It is helpful to understand the thinking of those who oppose you.
A diversity of views is always good. I acknowledge that your views are valid. So are mine. That’s life in a non homogeneous society like the USA today.
