“How long will people continue to blame everything on/ hate Bush?”
Probably not for long. Voters have short memories.
At present the cap fits very well. He was a poor President in every respect. I cannot think of one thing that I can admire him for. The relief at his passing is tangible and I can forgive those who, as you justifiably say, have gone overboard in treating Obama like a saint. He just seems so by comparison.
He has already made some bad mistakes in his senior appointments by being too trusting and forgiving of old lags. He will make more mistakes because he is not perfect, some will be serious, but our chances of being led over the brink by crass stupidity are much less now, and the relief is wonderful.
As Scott proved, Dubya did involve his religion in his administration much more than most of us would tolerate from Obama. In that sense he got a free run. Why? Probably because he was widely regarded as a simple and good man having simple religious beliefs. Yes, I think he was a good man, at least by evangelical American Christian standards, but still a bad President. Obama is a former Harvard Law professor, an intellectual, we expect him to think and act like one, so the bar is much higher now.
