A teacher should be able to carry a concealed weapon. Granted that they also have the proper permits. Since the teacher is trained to be a mentor, as well as, someone that does disipline the children. When the kids are at school, they deserve to be well protected. The kids shouldn’t have to fear someone taking over their classroom. All that does is take away from the learning that takes place. That is the key for these kids. Teachers, keep control of your classroom and the faith that this kids have in you.
Yeah and by the same logic we should allow every parents to carry guns. And then further, every doctors and nurses to carry guns. Let’s all carry guns. Why, then what would we need police, securities, and the military for?
Odd. I’m virtually certain that none of my teachers ever carried a firearm. I’m pretty sure that there were never firearms routinely present on school grounds (no security officers, no on-campus cops, none secretly hidden in the principal’s desk).
Yet I certainly never feared the possibility of anyone taking over the classroom, nor was anything taken away from learning.
There seems to be some irrational fear-mongering going on here. Much like in the peanut allergy threads.
The question, to me, isn’t whether teachers should carry — I strongly suspect the risks outweigh the benefits. The real question is whether the fears that motivate this desire to carry firearms are really justified.
