If teachers are permitted to carry … I certainly would demand that a teacher must qualify semi-annually on their weapon or else they are very likely to make a shooting situation worse by hitting the non-involved students. No ability to accurately operate your firearm equals no right to carry said firearm in the presence of children.

Why? Why in the world do you think it’s safer to have teachers bring in guns into the class room. Let’s look at it logically. When parents have gun in their house, they lock it in a box. Even then the kid might get the keys and open the box. Horrible things happen when guns and kids are in the same place. So let’s change the scenery. Now we have teachers carrying guns on their person or in the classroom. And we have a whole bunch of kids playing around everywhere. Does that spell “trouble”? I think when it comes to the matter of safety and weaponry; it is the job of the police and school securities.

Agreed totally. However, the ability to shoot a nice group on a target at 25 yards is no indication of readiness to hit a person who has turned a gun on you. It is extremely difficult to hit a moving aggressor under pressure, especially with a pistol, and still more difficult with an automatic pistol. I am sure that as a vet you know that.

I think the probability of being able to train a significant number of young female infant school teachers to do it is negligible.

Do you think the kids will be safer with the risk of being exposed to a gunfight like that – with Miss Perkytits shooting for them?
