It used to be that Iraq policy was THE defining issue for voters. Now no one cares, non issue. Iraq cops and military are largely trained and mostly able to handle anything. Political reconciliation starting. Things are looking up so we’ve moved on to the issues that matter today.

I can agree with that. The recent successes there have done exactly that – made it seemingly a non-issue. Americans never care about things that do not affect their day-to-day lives.
That said, without the Iraq position, I haven’t seen Obama offer anything on the table that makes him a "better" candidate than McCain. They seem to somewhat fall into the same patterns as far as politicians go. The only real difference I see between them now is that Obama will take more of my money for social programs.
