I saw the same scenario, every large commercial aircraft has a radio controlled kill switch? Yeah, how can that possibly go wrong?

How do they call it ‘non-lethal?’ A system shutdown at one mile up would be more than inconvenient.

I’m assuming built in kill switch rather than directional EMP doodad.
