RE: Hamilton

Didn’t read the Hamilton book- I cannot get into those fat biographies, to which several half-read tomes on Adams, Truman, and Franklin will attest. They are great studies but provide too much detail for my tastes.
I much prefer biography series dedicated to being concise, such as the "American Presidents ":http://www.americanpresidentsseries.com/index2.htm series and Penguin Lives. The books are handsome hardcovers, but are standard paperback size (~5 1/2" x 8"), and rarely exceed 200 pages. I would rather read three Penguin Lives bios than one massive David McCullough book.

I understand, biographies are generally snoozers. The Chernow book, however, will keep you reading the first half from sheer, morbid curiosity. Life in West Indies at the time was pretty tough.
