Warner and LordDilly both have identified the same problem. How far has our society degraded that the voting public will actually encourage this sort of commentary?
A part of the problem is that the media does not cry out about "anti-American" commentary, but will crucify someone with a conservative opinion that makes an equally extreme remark. This unbalance makes it appear that a large portion of the voting public tolerates, or even encourages, the positions some of these politicians take. If it appears that way to us, as Americans, it must be even more extreme in foreign countries.
Is there a solution that doesn't involve violating the Bill of Rights? Is there a chance to rebuild society's moral and patriotic attitude?
