Another advantage, kind of
My office IT people recently added gmail.com to the list of internet banned sites, leaving me unable to access my personal email from work. Even Outlook is unable to import the email via POP access. However, I can catch a glimpse of my personal email status by looking at my Google internet portal page. Of course, I have access to only very limited information, and can reply to none of it, but it's the only way I've found to get any info from behind this company block.
