Email Notifications

I would like to see more options for email notifications. Right now by default you receive an email when someone replies to your comment. It would be nice to be able to "watch" a news post and receive an email notification whenever a comment is placed, even if it is not in response to your comment.

Yes, especially with coffee shop items. Already it seems that most original posters assume a natural 'ownership' of the subject matter by answering questions and giving opinions to many of the replies.

I like this idea.

We're currently building an internal messaging system to hopefully allow for better contacting people on the site. Along with this, there will be a variety of ways to mark content, to include "for follow-up." Adding email notifications to these sorts of things should be easy enough.

I will note however, that the server comes first. If any of these prove to be a burden on the system, they will get the ax. I don't think a per content notification would pose any sort of issue, but a permanent "send me a message for all comments on all content" could.
