More of a Free-for-all

have you considered just allowing more random thoughts on this site? more blog-like, with people posting their individual thoughts more than news or other topics. That's why MySpace has been soo successful.

I understand what you mean by this but I can no more strongly disagree. Maybe that is why MySpace has been so successful. But it is also why a lot of intelligent people think MySpace is a waste of time. I don't really think it is very nerdy to randomly write down crap that isn't interesting, important or even intelligent. I think the current nerdBlog is as close as should be allowed (And I think even it may be too close to the strictly social networking sites). I guess that is the real difference. I was under the impression that this was not just a social networking site.

To answer both anon concerns:

Yes, we will be adding more random thought stuff. Blogs are in the works, as are some other forms of non-moderated content. Aside from blogging though, what else would you like to see?

As for us becoming like MySpace, don't hold your breath. While I acknowledge their success, I see the site as a sort of eCesspool. It's not what we're going for at all. So, while we will add these aspects to the site, we will strive harder than ever to ensure that only the nerdiest stuff gets highlighted.

I have ideas for how all of this will work, but if you have specifics on when a blog entry should be seen vs. not, I'd love to hear them.
