I've seen it

Comment comment by romanizzo on 11 October 2006

I've seen the commercial, and it makes me want to go out and join whatever organization it is they are advertising for. Just kidding, all cynicism aside, the new commercials are good, and emphasize some of the better things of the Army - strength, honor, teamwork. Made me feel all gooey inside when I saw it.

Hey romanizzo, I have not seen it yet, but I am glad you like it! If you guys doing the work like it, the recruits will like it. Strength, Honor and Teamwork, I like that a lot, kind of has that Duty, Honor, Country ring to it. Much better than the "Army Of One."

Yeah, about five minutes after I posted this news, I got the mass email from Francis Harvey (Secretary of the Army) with the "Internal Communication" version of the video, and the Public Affairs talking points.

I agree that the video itself was pretty good, although it could have used some better background music. In contrast to the Navy and Air Force recruiting commercials, which almost exclusively portray SEALs, Para-rescue jumpers, and fighter pilots (a very tiny fraction of their overall force), there was a relatively decent cross-section of the Army represented, and particularly a lot of "basic training/teamwork" footage.

I still think they could have come up with a better tagline than "Army Strong," which sounds a little meat-headed when taken by itself (out of the context of the videos). But maybe it'll grow on me. I guess anything's better than that "Army of One" garbage.
