Dude -- the opinion piece you linked to was from 2004, when I was there. I was gonna launch into a scathing op/ep with all sorts of links about the routing of Sadr by Iraqi forces, the lowest US casualties in years, Al Queda in Iraq being pushed into a corner in the Nineveh province, The Iraqi government passing historical political reconciliation benchmarks (some of these links to the New York Times fer Godsakes) ... but I'll let you take the time to track down any blogs from soldiers serving in Iraq within at least the last three years first.
