I feel the same way.

On one hand, I don't want to believe that a realitively tiny netwrok of super-rich, well-connected people is plotting to enslave humanity via RFIDs. I mean, it sounds like sci-fi. And yet, the youtube video you link to makes at least a plausible case for such an impending Orwellian (for lack of a better term) dystopic future.

In my mind, it becomes a balancing act: which way does one spin on the cynicism log?

Am I so cynical as to think the U.S. Government is really in league with this band of rogue media moguls and captains of finance; that there is a joint effort to commodify humanity and lock ever person into a privacy-eliminating database?

Or am I so cynical that I think of Zeitgeist as the manifestation of just another crazy, crackpot's conspiracy theories?

Or maybe this is not even about cynicism.

On one hand it is plausible that the RFID/ One-World Government scheme is rattling around with the expensive brandy snifters somewhere, but I don't see any of this actually taking hold anytime soon. First of all, if these people are so bent on keeping this from the general public, why hasn't that U-Tube video mysteriously disappeared yet? (Along with the 911 conspiracy videos.)

The real question in all of this is, "Why?" What would the personal motives be for a group to want to merge Canada, Mexico and the U.S.? There was a statement somewhere in the video that mentioned that this 'unionization attempt has been underway for 60 years. 60 years is a long time to keep anything going in a specific direction as far as conspiracies go.

Let me make sure I understand the RFID tag hoopla. At birth we are implanted with an RFID device. This device has "our number" on it. From that unique identification we have access to our bank accounts, purchasing, traveling in an out of the country, driving, etc.; anything that requires identity. This implant will evolve from a previous system that used Federal ID cards that each person is issued also containing some sort of RFID device. If we "act up" in some sort of anti-authoritarian way, they simply block access to the gigantic system by tagging your "number" as being invalid.

The thing is, this can already be done today fairly easily by law enforcement. Bank accounts can be frozen, credit cards deactivated. The above system makes it easier; but why would its mere existence necessarily warrant abuse by authorities when they more or less have the same power today?

Here's one thing I know: The hackers will have a whole new exciting fodder for their hacking pleasure if this RFID system ever hits the streets.
