Virtuous Consumption
This doesn't look like a very practical car to me. The lease cost is very high, and the use is limited to within a couple hour's drive of one of the few hydrogen refilling stations in the SoCal area. In spite of this, I imagine that they'll be able to lease quite a few of them to people who can afford to make a $600/month lease payment on a second commuter car, and either want the latest in automotive gadgetry, or who want to demonstrate their environmental virtue by driving a car that in effect burns electricity rather than oil.
I have to applaud them though, for trying a different approach to reduce our dependence on oil. I hope that it evolves into something more widely useful.
