Random Screeningfor Welfare Recipients

Comment comment by mindme on 14 January 2007

I totally agree. I work hard every day too. I am a Human Resourse Administrator and I can tell you stories about people and random drug testing. Maybe if drug screening was required more people who apply for aid would become employed. I think we should stop helping the people who refuse to help themselves. Save State and Federal aid for those who really need it.

"I am a Human Resource Administrator" - and therein lies the problem. HR is not about assisting employees; Drug testing is not about reducing risk; It is just another tool in a company's arsenal to exercise control.

Drug testing for Pilots? Sure.

Drug testing for someone sitting on their ass in an office reviewing contracts & responding to emails? Give me a break.

And finally... if drug testing (failing) would preclude someone from getting a job... and preclude someone from receiving govt. assistance, how prey tell, should that person contribute productively to society?

HR = the most useless organization, from a productive standpoint, within a corporate entity.
