After I graduate with my undergraduate degree, I was out of work for a good period of time. During that time, I caught up on my reading just a bit. During a two week period, I read the first 8 books of the Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan, which put me in the 3000+ per week range. What can I say? I had nothing better to do at the time.

I thought the first four of those books were excellent. Then the story began to languish with endless accounts of Egwene and Nynaeve smoothing their skirts. Robert Jordan hit the mark again well in the most recent book (11) Knife of Dreams. That one brought the story back into the pace that got me hooked in the first place. Unfortunately, he was stricken by amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy last year ....
