A ridiculous idea from the past
As repugnant as the idea of separate but equal is based on historical experience, what would be wrong with giving all the rights and financial breaks to a homosexual union and then calling it "warriage" or "darriage" or even civil union. Do conservatives really have a problem with homosexuals being legally together or is it that they don't like the "attack" on marriage as an institution?
If they have a problem with them being legally together, I don't think they have any standing at all.
Furthermore, do homosexuals need to have the label "marriage" to be happy or will they be happy with all the rights and priviledges under a different name?
Does this argument have to be the total conquest of the opposing view? Can there be no compromise?
