Scientists have already bounced lasers off the moon. Now it's only a logical extension to outfit the moon with a bigger mirror to turn it into a pseudo-deathstar. Then, we simply shoot our death rays from the United States, bounce it off the moon and turn Iraq into smooth glass.

According to Kights of the Old Republic Xbox game, vibroblades were made with a corto-something weave so they could engage lightsabers- but everyone knows videogames aren't real, like the movies.
