Comment comment by Anon_a_mouse on 27 August 2005

What do you mean by multi-dimensional existence? And how come nobody seems to like it?

What if we were answering this sort of poll while inside our dreams? Then "it all" would have started from a different dimension.

That's the way I took it. Actually, I've often wondered if this 'life' was a dream and the real 'life' took place while I thought I was dreaming...

I was thinking along the lines of Michio Kaku's description of a possible cause of what we refer to as the big bang coming about from the 'collapse' of a 'perfect' 10 dimensional universe into our current multi-dimensional world, where there are 4 macro dimensions (space and time) and 6 (or possibly more) micro-dimensions.

Sorry for the poor outline, for a much better understanding try reading Michio Kaku's 'Hyperspace' - or better yet a selection of the many high-quality popular science accounts of theoretical physics written by the people actually doing it over the past 10 or 15 years. And for those who argue that science is dull and doesn't hold the wonder and majesty of many religions or other meta-physical accounts then you really need to read some of this and prepare to have your mind blown right open by the awe and mystery of the modern rational understanding of the universe.
