Besides, war is neat; what with all the uniforms and shiny tanks and whatnots.
I will claim my never vote. I thought about all the justifications for war and it seems that only one side can justify their cause. The aggressor in a war can never truly justify their action. The aggressor is not required to actually act out; threats or a threatening posture are enough to require action on the part of the victum.
So looking at a war from both sides can war be justified? I could not think of a single war where both sides were acting in a totally justified manner. The Civil War comes close, but the root cause of the disagreement over States' Rights was immoral and darkens the cause that the Confederacy was fighting for.
Can you justify your actions for continually punching the hippy liberal douche in the scenario continually?
Diplomacy does not always work and violence is the only language that some people understand. Sadly, there are times where there is no alternative but to fight because allowing yourself to be destroyed is definitely not justifiable.
Well, war is always justified by some reason. Unless someone builds a super computer that adds all factors of war and calculates the end result before the war starts. Only then, I think, is war not needed.
We need something like Deep Thought to calculate that.

Never?!?
Oh c'mon. Who voted for "Never?"
I think the best test case I ever heard for someone that says "never" or who claims to be a pacisfist is this:
1. Ensure their viewpoint.
2. Confine them in some way so that they can't move.
3. Make a fist, and firmly punch their arm. Not hard enough to bruise, but enough to be annoying and irritating.
4. Regardless of anything they say, continue.
5. If you get tired, hungry, etc., switch out with someone to conduct 2 through 4.
6. Wait for them to react in one of two ways:
a. they remain pinned and abused until they die, thus proving their point
b. anything else happens and you prove yours.
Bottom line: talking and/or doing nothing doesn't always work. Sometime you have to fight, or be destroyed. And if you argue that being destroyed is justified, then we don't even stand on even enough grounds to have this conversation.
