We are aware of this and been doing our best to optimized the site, but it's been much harder than it sounds. We've actually got an article in the works on the topic. With that said, let me be the first to encourage all of our readers to promote the site in any positive way that is within your means. Little things like dropping our link on other sites, or emailing it to your nerdier friends will help us tremendously.
These last 3 months have entailed a lot of work by Brandon, Will, and I. We're not doing bad, but we've still got some ground to cover before we're legit. So if opportunity knocks and you get a chance to promote OmniNerd, please don't hesitate. We'll definitely appreciate all the help we can get.

Search Engine Optimization
The site is great. Short of turning the site into DOOM IV, your best bet is to increase traffic to the site. How many hits do you get from search engines?
When it comes to search engines, google has the market share. PageRank drives the google rank. PageRank goes from 1-10, with a 10 being the most important.
Omninerd's home page is a 2 and some of the internal pages are a 3. PR can be improved by having important (PR 4+) sites link to you. I see you have a PR5 link from Wikipedia. And a bunch of good links from SlashDot posts. With more links like that, your PR will go up and more people will find the site via search engines. Have you submitted the site to DMOZ? Many people mirror DMOZ and it will be a strong link. I'm sure there are plenty of other places out there that would link to Omninerd.
