Well, it is flawed, but not totally wrong. I coded the data set that was used on the web page and ran it through a chi-square/McNemar+Risk Estimate test (appropriate tests for dichotomous treatment variables + dichotomous outcome variables). No significant difference alpha=.744. But shame on you for using a straight up correlation. --chris

It does luckily give about the right answer

This is a case for almost any of the methods for analysing 2x2 tables and as other nerds pointed out, any of the good methods (Fisher, chi-square, ...) got the same answer. The good methods are the ones based on the same probability model. We toss a coin with probability of heads p1 a number of times, idem p2 (a different number of times), and ask ourselves if p1 and p2 could conceibably be the same
