Tourist Desination - Iraq
Compared to finding vacancies at hotels in other countries, booking a hotel in Iraq is simply a matter of showing up. And that’s exactly what an Italian tourist was doing before his Iraqi vacation ended when Falluja police picked him up fearing for his safety. They offered him a short tour of the city before sending him back to Baghad for a lack of hotels. Before Falluja, Luca Marchio was in Baghad where he was the Coral Palace’s first guest in nearly six years. Through the hotel he paid for a tour including the riverfront, visiting the Scheherazade monument, the artificial lake and Abu Jaafar al-Mansur square. That’s when he hopped on a bus to Falluja whereupon he was picked up after a checkpoint alerted the local police to his presence. Asked why he was in the country, “I am a tourist. I want to see the most important cities in the country. That is the reason why I am here now. I want to see and understand the reality because I have never been here before, and I think every country in the world must be seen.”
Many OmniNerds have been to Iraq … would you ever consider going back one day if the region were at peace?

I love pizza by milhous
Sorry, my title has nothing to do with anything…
The boyish altruism of this young Italian is palpable……Iraq truly is an amazing historical place that hopefully someday will be a huge tourist attraction….just like New York and Chicago are for their pizza….see I tied it in somehow!
I'd Go to Iraq as a Tourist by VnutZ
I think I would be interested to go back … in ten or twenty years. It would be interesting to see the change in people and get a feel for the city of Baghdad knowing the soccer playing kids are now likely in charge of it all. Would the generational difference result in a great enough change?
Also, there IS culturally significant stuff there. Just the other day I was reading about the return of a large number of looted pieces from their National Museum which had antiquities or very ancient origin. (NOTE: the bulk looting was done BEFORE the invasion … just in case anyone wanted to be smart and blame America). But things like that would be enjoyable to see WITHOUT wearing body armor, etc.
Wonderful place.. by DavidSmith
Iraq is really a dangerous destination for tourist at least for Americans. Though, there are many beautiful places to watch which attract people to visit to Iraq. The huge stones and excellent creativity on stones are one of the basic thing to watch at Iraq. Автобусные туры в Нью-Йорке
