Ten Dollar Tax No Longer Impeding Gun Ownership
While paying $10 and a visit to the local sheriff does not seem like much, it is apparent from the reaction in Ozark, Missouri after the repeal of the requirement that it was sufficient to discourage many from exercising their second amendment right. "Before, if you wanted to buy three handguns you had to get three sheriff’s permits at $10 a piece. Now you don’t. … We fill out a special form that goes to the sheriff and ATF if a person buys more than one handgun within five business days, just to let them know about it," he said. "We’ve done four of those forms so far today."
