TSA Screening and Holiday Travel

30_article_3745_thumb_tsa-full-body-scan

The body scanners that privacy activists have protested for so many years are now in use full force across the United States. Additionally, controversial with pat-downs for those opting out have raised much concern after stories of inappropriateness have circulated the news. There was allegedly going to be a great protest of the procedure with national opt-out day coinciding with Thanksgiving travel to make a statement. Many perceive the day as a bust with little to no travel disruptions reported and a statistically insignificant number of people participating.

Worst case by Occams

All the nerds know that I am anti-gun, but even I can see that one of the prime lessons from 911 was that the passengers needed to have weapons.

The day could not have turned out worse for anyone except the terrorists if guns were handed out with boarding passes.

Of course I am not recommending that people should be permitted to carry guns on airliners, but I would just like to see some recognition that the screening measures employed at airports on 911 did not help the situation: not even a tiny bit.
All we can say is that they ensured that the terrorists were armed with nothing more dangerous than box cutters. But that was enough

If there had been no screening the terrorists would have had guns and so would some of the passengers. There would have been a shoot out and that would have been lethal for some passengers and in a worst case scenario the whole aircraft would have been lost. Even then, it would probably not have hit a building.

So the screening ensured that the worst case scenario played out every time and that the buildings were all hit.

No scanners might have avoided the tragedy entirely if the terrorists changed their minds because they knew that they would have to fight armed passengers.

Next time TSA gives you a “personal touch”, just start moaning and starts with a little yelp and say:“yess….yessss” and then proceed to a larger moan and yell:“YESS YESSS HARDER Daddy!!”

Hehe, I don’t think that’s illegal but it’ll give the TSA officers something else to think about while they grope you.

As the debate continues, and the TSA continues to grope its way through the population, one question comes to mind: where are the dogs? A dog is less likely to become bored, and very, very difficult to circumvent. They’d be less intrusive, and cost less in money and civil liberties in the long run. So, why aren’t we employing them?
