So Who Is Paul Ryan?

So OmniNerds, who is this guy and why should we care? After all, the Vice President really doesn’t do much at all except wait for the President to die.
If you’ve been completely under a rock, Paul Ryan is Mitt Romney’s chosen running mate for Vice President. CNN has a basic rundown of Paul Ryan facts to establish a few starting point metrics. Naturally, the Obama camp already has their this guy is a sham articles up and posted.

Ryan considered Harmful by GreatWhiteDork
It’s not just the Obama campaign who think he’s a sham. In two recent postings ( also here ) on Reason Magazine’s website, Mr. Ryan gets some anti-love from the Libertarian viewpoint.
He voted for nearly all of the Bush era abuses. (TARP, Endless Un-War, Patriot Act)
True, he’s just the VP, but I think I may be writing in “Odin”. At least he got rid of the frost giants….

I don’t know a lot about him, and I tend to think the most important thing for a VP to do is not negatively impact the P’s campaign – but I’ll offer up a gut reaction anyway: He feels a lot like Romney, who I view as a conservative pragmatist.
