One of the many challenges tempting scientists is how life first oozed from the primordial soup in order to evolve over millions of years into cubicle drones. Some scientists believe life began with RNA as opposed to DNA because while simpler, it is still capable of storing information and replicating. However, after 40 years of experimenting whereas nature had billions of years for an anomalous event to occur, scientists had failed to recreate the process until now. From the University of Manchester in England, John Sutherland points out, “The key turned out to be the order that the ingredients are added and the way you put them together — like making a soufflé … It’s not as simple as putting compounds in a beaker and mixing it up. It’s a series of steps.”
