Speaking of UAVs, the Air Force has finally acknowledged a new operational UAV born from the famed hangers of Skunkworks. Dubbed the RQ-170 Sentinel, the new UAV is a flying wing designed with stealth in mind. It’s 65 foot wingspan makes it roughly the same as an MQ-9 Reaper but this flying wing design is jet powered (presumably for higher altitude operation) and carries no armament. The RQ-170 entered operation in 2005 and was spotted in 2007 flying out of Afghanistan.
