Peers Do It Better

According to researchers at the University of Chicago, sex is best when it is with a social equal. The study of 29 nations shows that male-centered cultures like those found in Japan and the Muslim world have the least satisfied sex participants. The researchers were actually kicked out of Saudi Arabia for asking sex-related survey questions, however many other Muslim, male-dominated countries did participate.

In addition to the social data reported, other information showed: monogamy and commitment were found to be cherished throughout the world, despite great differences in culture and tradition; foreplay (5 to 30 minutes) has a positive association everywhere, especially for women; and data on female sexual dysfunction were similar around the world.

Good to know! Thanks Bub!

I thought some other things in the article were particularly interesting:

  • Everywhere in the world:
  • @One woman in three reports sexual problems that are affecting her happiness.
  • @Feelings of sexual well-being strongly correlated with overall happiness for both men and women.
  • In Western nations:
  • @Two-thirds of men and women reported their sexual life was physically and emotionally satisfying.
  • @About half the men and one third of the women said sex was extremely or very important in their lives.
  • In Mideast countries:
  • @50% of men in Mideast nations found their sex lives satisfying, compared with 38% of women.
  • @60% of men and 37% of women said sex is important.
  • In Asian countries:
  • @A quarter of men and women reported satisfying sex lives.
  • @Among men, 28 percent said sex was important to them. Just 12 percent of the women said it was important.

The most sexually satisfied countries:

  • Austria
  • Spain
  • Canada
  • Belgium
  • U.S.
  • Australia
  • Mexico
  • Germany
  • Sweden
  • U.K.

The least sexually satisfied countries:

  • Japan
  • Taiwan
  • Indonesia
  • China
  • Thailand

The possible limitations it listed are also worth note:

  • The survey was administered in different modes.
  • There were generally low response rates.
  • Response rates varied from country to country.

…..good thing you summed up that 2 page article for us.

> In Mideast countries:
> 50% of men in Mideast nations found their sex lives satisfying, compared with 38% of women.
> 60% of men and 37% of women said sex is important.

Interesting. I wonder if the women are dissatisfied because the men are too busy pounding each other? For those of you that have been to Iraq … remember, culturally they are not "gay" unless they are still have mutual man sex after age 35.

I found it quite liberating to hold hands with my best guy-friend whilst visiting Baghdad U. When in Rome…

It doesnt look you surveyed India accounting for 1/6 of earths population and said to be the fastest growing country in the world.

without it you must be stupid to give more weightage to small countries with population of few millions than the goliaths who matter
