Involvement in Libya
So the United Nations recently passed a Resolution 1973 to impose a “No Fly Zone” over Libya in response to Muammar Gaddafi’s reactionary violence to protests. Shortly after the UN passed the resolution, American President Obama declared
“All attacks against civilians must stop. Gaddafi must stop his troops from advancing on Benghazi, pull them back from Ajdabiya, Misrata and Zawiya, and establish water, electricity and gas supplies to all areas.
Humanitarian assistance must be allowed to reach the people of Libya.
Let me be clear, these terms are not negotiable. If Gaddafi does not comply, the international community will impose consequences, and the resolution will be enforced through military action."
Already, British aircraft are massing into the region alongside US Navy warships where Admiral Samuel Locklear is slated to plan the No Fly Zone efforts. Despite the resolution, fighting has continued with pro-Gaddafi forces pushing against the resistance. In a move many Americans may find surprising, French warplanes have already attacked Libyan tanks.

In a move many Americans may find surprising, ….
Is that a reference to the pathetic “cheese eating surrender monkeys” slur.
The French, like many other Europeans, thought hat he invasion of Iraq was a dumb idea and refused to support it. Americans should be able to look back now and admit that they showed more good judgement rather than poor courage.
The French military has a great fighting tradition to look back on. More so than the USA. We should be grateful because, they won the American War of Independence for us and gave us our liberty. Perhaps we would have got there anyway eventually, but they took over and ended it. We begged them to do that.
The French have the most experience of dealing with Arabs of all the western powers so perhaps they should be given the lead in this coalition effort in Libya.
Isn’t it amazing how (in the link) CNN thinks it knows all the tactics of the no fly zone, and is quite happy to tell them to Gaddafi?
