The machine apocalypse marches one step closer as IBM takes its computing prowess out of “simple” chess matches and into language recognition. The two, all-time Jeopardy champions with the highest gross winnings [Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter] will compete in February against IBM’s Watson. The computer has already passed Jeopardy’s qualifying tests and has been testing against previous Jeopardy contestants in preparation for its showdown.
