Cindy Sheehan Speculates Run for Pelosi's Seat

Cindy Sheehan, who became a symbol of the anti-war movement by staging protests outside President Bush’s Texas ranch, is now claiming that she will run as an independent against Nancy Pelosi in 2008 unless the Speaker of the House begins impeachment proceedings against the president by July 23^rd. Sheehan told The Associated Press on July 8, "I think all politicians should be held accountable. Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership. We hired them to bring an end to the war."
Despite having never held public office before, Sheehan feels she has a fighting chance due to her previously established name recognition, and would not have to run against Pelosi in a primary.
