Cindy Sheehan, who became a symbol of the anti-war movement by staging protests outside President Bush’s Texas ranch, is now claiming that she will run as an independent against Nancy Pelosi in 2008 unless the Speaker of the House begins impeachment proceedings against the president by July 23rd. Sheehan told The Associated Press on July 8, "I think all politicians should be held accountable. Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership. We hired them to bring an end to the war."
Despite having never held public office before, Sheehan feels she has a fighting chance due to her previously established name recognition, and would not have to run against Pelosi in a primary.

Nancy Pelosi isn’t left enough for Democrats?! Are you kidding me. HOw much farther can she go? Do current Democrat voters want Fidel Castro or a re-animated Lenin? Maybe they do. All of their current presidential candidates are for socialized health-care, some even touting Cuba as a good role model. They all want to stop the War on Terror and impose a truly crushing tax burden on everyone who actually works and contributes to the prosperity of this country.

It amazes me that the record of the 20th century (after WWII) has been the complete failure of socialism/communism around the world, and yet our beloved Democrats would like to experiment with this stuff all over again. They must think they’re smart enough to succeed where so many others have failed. (cough..cough, shaky proposition.)

If Nancy Pelosi isn’t left enough, maybe the DNC should start looking in China for their next crop of senatorial candidates. Oh wait, even China knows their communist system is done and are actively embracing that dreaded "free-market economy." Heck, even the Europeans are coming around. Look at France.

But seriously, it isn’t all that surprising. The Democrats have two platform pegs at this point – "we hate bush" and "com’on, let’s try socialism. It can work. Really. We know it failed everywhere else, but we can do it….seriously." (At least in a socialist state John Edwards probably won’t have to pay $400 for a haircut, although he may have to wait in a really long line.) But, oh wait, there’s one other piece to their platform – "minorities, vote for us. We will protect you from the Big Bad White Man." (ignore the fact that most of us are white)

This whole Nancy Pelosi isn’t surrending fast-enough thing just makes me realize how bad our future may be. But it’s not all bad. If you don’t like money, private-property, opportunity, being able to see a doctor, or fighting terrorism, you will be very happy with the rising stars in the Democrat world.

Sheehan told The Associated Press on July 8, "I think all politicians should be held accountable. Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership. We hired them to bring an end to the war."

I think it’s absurd that seemingly everyone keeps pointing the finger at Bush and Bush alone. Sheehan is upset that the Speaker of the House hasn’t initiated impeachment over Iraq … yet she should be upset that the Speaker of the House hasn’t invoked the War Powers Clause and ended it herself since she says that "We hired them to bring an end to the war."
