Chinese Video of Cyberattack

China is currently backpedaling to mitigate an OPSEC snafu where a military documentary caught them performing a cyberattack and aired it on TV. Roughly 11 minutes into the documentary, six seconds of footage show the Chinese military demonstrating script-kiddie level operational tech as they click the “ATTACK” button against US IP address 138.26.72.17 in order to take down a Falun Gong website.

I don’t know much about computer programming honestly. I know zero about hacking. But I thought most government backed hackers use some super sophisticated method, especially against another nation’s website. This looks like a high school project made from visual basics.

And honestly, I don’t care about Falun Gong at all and think very little of them, as I mentioned previously in my post. They are right next to scientology and other cults.

The updated section of The Epoch Times says the following:

The University of Alabama at Birmingham made a statement after the news broke, noting that the IP address belonged to a website that was decommissioned in 2001 because it had been created against UAB rules. They said that they believe the purpose of the action demonstrated in the video was not to launch an attack from that website, but to block access to it, and that they’re not aware of any such attack, past or present

So they blocked a website that was already decommission due to violation against UAB rules. I think this video is probably more of a censor/block than attack. Which lead me to think this is just a hoax video made by some bored individual in China…a Chinese troll perhaps?

Though the other examples from past years of cyberattack from China, I am somewhat not suprised. I’m pretty sure it’s like a game in cyber world, every nation is trying to hack each other and get the upper hand on something. Every hacker from every nation is trying to hack something.
