Astrology Proven Statistically Meaningless

Newspaper

article by Matthew Vea (VnutZ) on 26 April 2008, tagged as astrology and science

Astrology is a technique by which people predict outcomes and find meaning within their lives by making associations and connections to environmental stimuli – most notably astrological positioning. People practice astrology by constructing detailed natal charts to determine the influencing factors at their birth. From these charts, it should be possible to divine predicted connections between all the events that transpire in a person’s life. According to a study released by London based researchers, astrology is nothing more than artistic guessing. The study began in 1958 to track the lives of 2000 infants born within minutes of each other. If astrology has merit, the scientists postulated, the lives of each infant ought to bear resemblance to one another. Fifty years later, the research concludes the individual’s lives are completely unique and not a single prediction could accurately have forecast any outcome. Adding insult to injury, additional testing showed that given a birth chart and the life history of subjects, professional astrologers could not match the two for any of their subjects with any sort of accuracy better than randomly guessing. Despite studies like these having been conducted before, belief in astrology has skyrocketed.

Context over predictive value by NomadSoul :: NR7

There will always be something like astrology around. It may even provide a useful function in giving people a context or framework for understanding their experiences, even if it isn’t necessarily accurate in a historical sense. The thing even an experienced astrologer will tell you is that astrology predicts trends and forces, not specific events. It’s like a spiritual weather report—the astrologer can issue a storm warning, but can’t say for sure if your house will be demolished by a passing tornado, or if the storm will pass you by altogether.

If it helps people get some context for understanding and overcoming the challenges in their lives, it’s a good and healthy thing. If it becomes an obsession or crutch, and the person can’t do anything without consulting their horoscope, well, then it’s time to put it aside.

Astrology WAS science by Anonymous :: NR0

A long time ago during the dark ages, way before Galileo came along and developed the Scientific Method, the people who were called alchemists and astrologers were actually very similar in many ways to our present day chemists, physicists and astronomers except that they were working with different notions of reality. We owe a great debt to these people and a bit of scorn to Sunday newspaper astrologers and their scientist critics who have no clue what astrology is all about.

Note: There was a lot of persecution of scientific thought from the catholic church at this time so there was a lot of secret codes and subterfuge from the people investigating nature.

Another blunder by VnutZ and others to put wrong spin on actual facts. Here is a perfect example of how Illuminati and cult of Venetians abuse people.

Astrology is as old as humans. It is used in conjuction with other orginal and native arts. See Origins and Oracles by Michael Tsarion and learn :p
