Apple iPad
So what are people’s thoughts on the Apple’s unveiling of their new product, the iPad? The company focused it’s presentation around the simplicity of the device to just integrate itself into your daily life. Highlights included their book reader software along with newer versions of their mail, calendar and “life” apps designed to be used with natural multi-touch gestures.
Part of the buzz surrounds the new processor, Apple’s own 1Ghz A4 chip. Details of the A4 are slim, but it is known that Apple purchased a semiconductor processor manufacturer last year that specialized in low-power chips based on the Power architecture that used to drive Apple products. (Remember the G5 and the ludicrous performance from the Power 6 and 7s whose cores went into the PlayStation 3?) With an ARM license, it is suspected the A4 to be a hybrid of Power’s energy-efficiency and ARM’s mobile performance in an all-in-one design incorporating CPU, GPU, I/O and memory controllers.

don’t have an iPhone, iPod Touch, MacBook/Mac Air, or E-Reader? Maybe…..
I think it has potential for home user cloud computing if that ever becomes a viable solution.
It is lacking the ability to hold up for business computing, although this isn’t a fair reach.
I’m sad to see that it doesn’t have a built in USB although that isn’t entirely in Apple’s style and I’m sure they debated this, but I’m wondering why it’s not included.
I think all-in-all people will want these, but I just don’t know how many people ;-)
